The day before yesterday, the competitions of the first edition of the Gulf Youth Games “Emirates 2024” were concluded, after 15 days of excitement and suspense, and after the necks of future champions were decorated with 792 colorful medals in 24 sports, with the participation of 3,500 male and female athletes. Emirates Sports won the lion’s share of medals in the Gulf Games, after raising its tally at the end of the competitions to 296 colored medals, equivalent to 37% of the total medals.
The 15 final day’s competitions witnessed the swimming team winning four new medals, bringing its total final tally to 28 colored medals, with six gold, 10 silver, and 12 bronze. The fencing team also succeeded in winning six new medals, raising its total tally to 11 colored medals. Over the course of two days.
The organizing committee of the session celebrated the delegations participating in the event hosted by the UAE. Al-Mutawa stressed that “the success of organizing the Gulf Games was not the result of coincidence, and it has turned into a tangible reality through which we aspire to achieve a major leap in the level of our sons and daughters, and progress in their performance and results. We want to say at the end of this forum that the tournament is the event that made the youth… Creates”.
Dahlan Jumaan Al-Hamad, President of the Asian Athletics Confederation, praised the UAE’s hosting and organization of the tournament, stressing that it laid the foundation for an important sports forum with a significant impact on sustainable sports development in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. He pointed out that the tournament has become a tangible reality on the ground and was launched in the Emirates, to benefit the youth of the Gulf in all the approved games in its program full of various competitions.
For his part, Ahmed Al-Qudmani, President of the Saudi Swimming Federation, stressed his pride in the achievements achieved by his country’s team in the Gulf Games, most notably the historic gold medal from swimmer Mashael Al-Ayed, which he described as a drop in the beginning of the rain.
