New Delhi: The Delhi Police today went to the house of senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to investigate his allegations that women are being sexually assaulted.
Rahul Gandhi, who recently embarked on the India Unity Yatra, while speaking in Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir, mentioned that women are still subjected to sexual violence. The Delhi Police have registered a case in this regard and have sent questions regarding this and requested them to answer.
In this case, the police headed by Delhi Special Commissioner of Law and Order Sagar Preet Hooda went to Rahul Gandhi’s house to investigate the matter in person. “Rahul Gandhi should provide the police with the information he has about the victims of sexual violence. The police said that only if we know the identity of the victims, we can give them proper protection.
Meanwhile, senior leaders of the party have condemned the police visit to Rahul Gandhi’s house. Jairam Ramesh, general secretary of the party, speaking to the media, said, “It has been 45 days since the end of the Indian Unity Yatra. If the Delhi Police really cared, why were they silent for so many days? Why didn’t they come last month? Congress party’s legal wing will give appropriate response to Delhi Police,” he said.
“If the police went to Rahul Gandhi’s house without proper reason, it could not have happened without Amit Shah’s permission. He will respond to the notice given to Rahul Gandhi. But, why should the police go to his house right now?” asked Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Khelat.
The Congress party’s Twitter page said that the drama shows how shocked Prime Minister Modi is by Rahul Gandhi’s questions regarding Adani Viharam.
