Kolkata: Union Minister Smriti Irani has alleged that the Congress is shutting down Parliament with the intention of insulting President Dirupati Murmu.
Speaking to reporters in Kolkata, he said, “The budget session of the Parliament has started with the speech of the President of the Republic Dravupati Murmu. In his speech, the President spoke in detail about the current state of development of the country and its future goals. It is very necessary to discuss the President’s speech and pass a resolution of thanks for his speech. But the Congress has been paralyzing the Parliament for the last 2 days to the extent that the Parliament cannot function.
This shows the enmity that the Congress party has towards Drabupati Murmu since he was elected as the President. The government keeps saying that it is ready to discuss any issue. But why is the Congress preventing the passage of the resolution of thanks to the President’s speech? “Everybody knows that the opposition parties are in an anti-presidential mood,” he said.
Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary has condemned Smriti Irani’s comment. In this regard, he has given an interview to a news agency, “Smriti Irani is not aware of the legislative proposals of the Parliament. His allegations against the Congress are baseless. Public sector companies LIC and SBI have invested in Adani Group. That public money is now sinking. Therefore, the opposition parties are insisting that an investigation should be conducted in this matter as a whole,” he said.
After the study published by Hindenburg Institute of America on January 24, that the Adani Group has illegal activities, the value of the company has fallen to 100 billion dollars. However, Adani claims that the allegations of financial irregularities are not true.
