Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge donated Rs 1 lakh 38 thousand for the Donate for the Country campaign.
Congress launched Donate for Country campaign today (December 18) to raise funds for Lok Sabha elections 2024. But BJP has already taken the domain of this name in its name. Congress has sought donations from people in three ways
Congress will celebrate its 138th Foundation Day on 28 December. On this occasion, Congress has sought donations of Rs 138, Rs 1,380, Rs 13,800 or 10 times this amount from people above 18 years of age. Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge himself donated Rs 1 lakh 38 thousand while launching this campaign.
This campaign is currently running online. After the foundation day of Congress on 28th December, Congress workers will go door to door asking people to donate at least Rs 138. Kharge said- For the first time the party is asking to donate for the country. If we depend on rich people then we have to accept their policies. Mahatma Gandhi also took donations from the people to bring independence to the country.
Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal said- This campaign is inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s Tilak Swaraj Fund, which he started in 1919-20. The big thing is that this Donate for Country domain has already been booked by BJP.

Congress leader Ajay Maken gave the online link and other information of this campaign. He told that http://donateinc.in. or http://inc.in. But donation can be given to Congress. Also said that whoever donates will be issued a signed certificate by AICC.
Delhi Congress President Arvinder Singh Lovely said- If we take donations from common people instead of businessmen, there will be no pressure on us. We will be able to work without pressure. We will follow it strongly in Delhi. Through this campaign we will go door-to-door. With this we will be able to contact them and also collect donations.
This is BJP’s donatefordesh.org domain
PM Modi’s photo of Independence Day celebration is visible on BJP’s page.
The domain of Donate for Desh (donatefordesh.org) has been booked by BJP in its name. If donation is given on donatefordesh.org, it will go to BJP. Only after Congress launched the campaign, BJP registered it in its name. Whereas, donatefordesh.com domain has been registered in the name of opindia on 16 December.

Kerala Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala had laid maximum emphasis on this point. Ajay Maken was in favor of crowdfunding since then.
BJP’s taunt on Congress’s crowd funding
BJP shared a clip from the 80s film Inquilab on X (previously Twitter) at 4:22 pm on December 17. It was written in its caption – The story and characters of this clip are not imaginary. This is similar to Congress MP Dheeraj Sahu’s party’s campaign to start crowd funding.
There is a scene of Amitabh Bachchan and Kader Khan in the clip, in which Kader Khan is asking Amitabh to collect donations to contest the elections. Kader Khan says- We have a large amount of black money. In this money we will add the money received as donations from the public. Then we will tell the government that the public has donated one crore rupees to us. In this way all the money will become white money.
Why should Congress campaign be linked to Dheeraj Sahu? couple
