Chennai: Australian player Maxwell’s wife Vini Raman has responded to the trolls of some Indian cricket fans.
Australia beat India in the final match of the ICC ODI World Cup series at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad yesterday (Nov 19) to win the trophy. In response to the Indian team’s defeat, many fans have been accused of sending hateful messages to Australian cricketer Glenn Maxwell’s wife Vini Raman. Some of the fans have sent messages to Vini Raman on social media saying that he is celebrating the defeat of the Indian team, taking India as his native place.
Regarding this, Vini Raman said on his Instagram page, “Can’t believe the need to say this has arisen. While you should support the country you were born and raised in, you should also support the team your child’s father plays for. Direct your anger towards important issues happening in the world.”
A native of Tamil Nadu, Mini studied in Australia and fell in love with cricketer Maxwell and got married. Last year, their wedding took place with great fanfare. It is noteworthy that they got married in Australia according to Christian method and in Tamil Nadu according to Hindu method.
Meanwhile, a photo of Australian player Mitchell Marsh with his foot on the World Cup is going viral on social media. Criticisms and counter-opinions to those criticisms are abundant.
