It is reported that the move is to set the parking fee at three riyals per hour. Currently, parking fees are charged in all major cities in Saudi Arabia, but are uniform in nature. Similarly, parking complexes are charged differently. There are many rates in many places. Some places charge three riyals without VAT. There are also private parking centers that charge up to five Riyals per hour. The move is to consolidate all these into a single rate across the country at public centers and private parking facilities.

Similarly, the draft law also says that the first 20 minutes of parking should be free anywhere. It is also suggested that special space should be reserved for differently abled persons in all the vehicle parking centers. According to the report, the ministry will discuss these matters with the owners of private parking complexes in the country. The new law will also include rules for setting up new parking zones in the country.
