Digital Desk, London. According to official figures, Britain has recorded 40,004 new Kovid-19 infections, taking the total number of corona infected people nationally to 9,845,492. The country also reported 61 coronavirus-related deaths. The total number of coronavirus-related deaths in the UK now stands at 143,927, with 8,079 Covid patients still hospitalised. The latest data came as Health Secretary Sajid Javid said the UK government was not considering a Plan B of restrictions, while countries in Europe could face stricter measures linked to lockdowns and vaccine mandates due to a spike in cases .
Plan B includes advice on working from home and requiring the use of masks in certain situations, Xinhua news agency reported. Hopson told Sky News that the health service is experiencing high numbers of people coming to accident and emergency departments, with ambulance services under real pressure.
According to the latest figures, more than 88 per cent of people aged 12 and over in the UK have received their first vaccine dose and over 80 per cent have received both. Meanwhile, some 26 percent have received a booster jab or a third dose of the vaccine.
