Digital Desk, Wellington. On Monday, 205 new cases of corona delta variants were reported in New Zealand, increasing the number of corona infections nationwide to 10,176. These figures have been shared by the Ministry of Health. Of the new infections, 175 were reported in the largest city of Auckland, 20 in nearby Waikato, 4 in Northland, 5 in the Bay of Plenty and one in the Lake District Health Board area, Xinhua news agency reported.
In the last 24 hours in the country, one infected person has died at Middlemore Hospital in Auckland, taking the total death toll to 40. A total of 85 infected cases are being treated in hospitals on Monday, including 6 admitted to intensive care units or high dependency units, a ministry statement said. So far 91 percent of eligible people in New Zealand have received their first dose and 83 percent have been fully vaccinated.
New Zealand launched the My Vaccine Pass on November 17 for people who are fully vaccinated before attending large events or entering certain public facilities. My Vaccine Pass is an official record of a person’s corona vaccination status and will provide access to locations in New Zealand where proof of vaccination is required under the new protection framework. As of Monday morning, around 11.3 lakh requests for My Vaccine Pass had been processed.
