Izvestia correspondent Yaroslav Bogat on Wednesday, May 18, showed the destruction of armored vehicles, fortified positions and the command post of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during a special military operation to protect the population Donbass.
“Msta-S” is capable of firing at a distance of up to 30 km. When firing, high-explosive projectiles are used. This allows you to inflict maximum damage on fortifications, including buried concrete fortifications of the enemy. At the same time, it is possible to fire both from closed firing positions and direct fire without preliminary preparation of firing positions.
Orlan-10 drones help the gunners in carrying out combat missions.
“First, the area is opened, drones fly over the supposed territory where the enemy may be, determines the coordinates, then the coordinates are sent to the command post, from where the task of inflicting fire damage already comes to us,” said gun commander Mark.
After the strikes, multi-ton self-propelled howitzers change their location. It only took them a few minutes to do this. The enemy fired back at empty positions. However, the main target of the Russian artillery, the stronghold of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, was completely destroyed.
The nationalists were planning a counterattack on the positions of the Russian troops. Now the site is free for further cleaning from the forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the liberation of settlements.
On the eve of the Ministry of Defense of Russia showed footage of the work of the calculations of anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) “Tor-M2”. During the performance of combat missions, the Tor-M2 air defense system destroyed two Ukrainian attack helicopters, as well as more than 90 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for various purposes, including 10 Bayraktar-TB2 UAVs.
On February 24, Russia launched an operation to protect civilians in the Donbass. Moscow explained that the tasks of the special operation included demilitarization and denazification, the implementation of which is necessary to ensure the security of Russia. The decision was made against the background of aggravation in the region as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian military. The authorities of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics announced the evacuation of residents to the Russian Federation, and on February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree recognizing the independence of the DPR and LPR.
