Sharjah’s Romanian coach, Olario Cosmin, confirmed that his team knew how to stop Al-Nasr players and not give them space, which led Al-Malik to defeat Al-Ameed, the day before yesterday, with two clean goals, and qualify for the quarter-finals of the President’s Cup football competition.
He said in press statements after the match that the confrontation was difficult, but his team was able to secure victory, explaining: “Al-Nasr players Adel Taarabt and Othman Boussaid play comfortably in the Al-Nasr team and are capable of making a difference, and therefore we had to close the spaces and not give them the ability to pass.” And creating opportunities is what led the team to victory.”
He added: “In the first half, the Sharjah team was not at its true level, and we did not provide the expected return, but in the second half it regained its level, possessing the ball and playing small passes until it succeeded in scoring two goals, and advanced to the next round of the cup.”
He continued: “There are players who played the match and were not in the best condition, such as Khaled Al-Dhanhani, who played the match and had a problem with his nose, so he played with a mask, and I thank him for the effort he made.”
On the other hand, Al-Nasr’s Dutch coach, Alfred Schroeder, said that “the Brigadier” lost his chance in the match in the first half, as he created opportunities but did not succeed in seizing them against the strong Sharjah team, as he put it. He said: “We played against the team that was at the top of the ADNOC Professional League, and in the second half the victory was good, but Sharjah succeeded in scoring the first goal, which paved its way to victory.”
He continued: “We lost the replacement of the player Abdullah Toure, who was dangerous, and had he not been injured, I would not have replaced him.”
He added: “We are still at the beginning of the season, and it is difficult to talk now about winter transfers and strengthening the ranks.”
