Costco chicken is one of the most popular products of the famous department store chain. However, in recent days, some customers have complained on the Reddit opinion forum that it now tastes more chemical.
“We tried it and it has a really nasty, distinctive chemical taste,” said Reddit user u/MillennialModernMan.
The same user said that this has happened in the last three weeks, but it has never happened before and he has been buying the chicken for years.
Other users weighed in on the post, not only complaining about the taste, but also the smell of Costco chicken.
Another user said: “I thought I was going crazy or had covid again when I tasted some rotisserie chicken recently and it tasted… chemical and soapy? Very strange”.
Yet another user said that he now notices a distinctive chlorine taste, which is why he stopped eating it a year ago.
Some more users said that it could be that the chicken has some antibacterial drugs in it, and that could be what gives the meat its chemical taste.
Other users recalled that Costco gets the chickens from different suppliers, so one of these could be giving the chickens with the strange taste.
Costco’s chicken has long been famous for selling for just $4.99, making it highly sought after by people looking to save a few bucks on a meal.
