Cough Syrup Death: Do not give this cough syrup to children.. License of India Pharma Company canceled.. WHO Warning!

Cough Syrup Death: The Center has suspended the license of Marion Biotech Private Limited, a pharmaceutical company based in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India. Earlier in Uzbekistan, 18 children were allegedly killed after drinking this company’s cough syrup. It was then that the World Health Organization (WHO) gave a warning not to use this medicine. The Center and Uttar Pradesh Food Safety and Drug Administration have recently suspended the license of this company. The WHO, which has just stepped into the field with Uzbekistan’s allegations, has warned against the use of two cough medicines produced by Marion Biotech.

Ambronol Sip and Doc-1 Max Syrup are not to be used by the WHO, which has explained that these medicines are not safe and do not follow the quality standards. It stated that they do not give any guarantee regarding the safety and quality of the medicines. It says that it contains high amount of ethylene glycol, so don’t use it.

But now the Indian government has also taken action against the same company. The license of Marion Biotech Pvt Ltd has been suspended by the Uttar Pradesh Food Safety and Drug Regulatory Authority (FSDA). This company is located at Sector 67, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh Drug Controller AK Jain revealed that the company had banned the sale of the cough medicine at a time when news of the deaths of children in Uzbekistan came out.

The Food and Drug Administration, headed by the Union Health Ministry, and the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) jointly took action against the company. The company took samples of the drugs and researched them. The results of these tests are yet to come. The company’s license will remain under suspension until further orders, it said in a statement.

Central agencies and Uttar Pradesh Drug Department jointly conducted inspections in the offices of this organization on December 29. More samples were taken for testing. During the inspections, when asked to provide the correct documents regarding the production of Dok-1 Max, it was learned that he was unable to do so. But this company does not sell its cough medicine in India. Exporting to Uzbekistan only. It is noteworthy that one lakh syrups were exported in 45 days.
