Monitoring of the Amur tiger has begun in Primorsky Krai. Employees of the National Reserve “Call of the Tiger” study the tracks in the snow.
The press service of the reserve told Vostokmedia that they monitor the Red Book cat every year, in February, in particular, in the southern part of the reserve. At the same time, it is not easy to count traces because of the relief of the national park – mountains with steep slopes. Specialists have to move on snowmobiles and skis.
Each track encountered is recorded in the diary of the observer, marked on the map. In addition, the specialist makes five measurements of the tracks, determining the sex and age of the tiger. This time, the staff of the reserve will mark the tracks not only of tigers, but also of ungulates. They will place camera traps along all routes.

Scientists have received rare footage of the rest of the family of Amur tigers. Mom-tigress, returning from hunting, did not find her two cubs in place and began to call them loudly.
