Even after recovering from the infection, many people have complained of weakness or pain in the bones, especially the joints.

In the initial days, it was seen that the coronavirus would affect the respiratory system, followed by the heart, brain and other organs. It is now seen that at least 20-30 percent of the victims are likely to suffer from joint pain after recovering from the COVID-19 infection.

According to doctors treating patients infected with Kovid-19, the number of people complaining of joint pain is increasing. This problem is being seen more in patients who had to be put on ventilators to recover from breathlessness or severe infection.

This condition is called ‘reactive arthralgia’ or reactive arthritis, which causes joint pain and swelling due to infection in another part of the human body and it happens for a variety of reasons.

Kolla Saket, Joint Replacement and Regenerative Orthopedic Surgeon, Consultant, Gleneagles Global Hospitals, said, “To ensure healthy food intake, people suffering from COVID-19 infection or those who have recently recovered from it should consume high amounts of protein-rich foods. are consuming food. This will result in increased levels of uric acid in the human body, thus resulting in severe joint pain. It is important that people at all times restrain their food habits and give themselves extra protein Get the right advice instead of overloading yourself with it, which is definitely not a healthy approach.”

Jagan Mohan Reddy Velpula, Senior Consultant, Orthopedic Surgeon, SLG Hospitals suggests that apart from having a healthy diet, those recovering from COVID-19 infection should chart an exercise routine.

He said, “This will help the body recover from the after effects of the infection and regain the lost strength. It is important that people who are recovering from a COVID-19 infection do everything they can to avoid any associated health complications. Consult a doctor at least once a month for a fixed period.”

VV Satyanarayana, Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon, Aware Gleneagles Global Hospitals advises caution in the use of steroids.

“Steroids are administered to patients infected with COVID-19, while they are needed to treat the infection, potentially adversely affecting those who already have underlying health conditions such as joint pain. In some individuals, problems like dyspepsia, fatigue and fatigue are also seen as complications arising in the later stages of COVID-19 infection. Regular consultation with doctors can remove all possible problems associated with the viral infection. will help.”

When a person is suffering from a COVID-19 infection, the lungs are probably the immediate and most commonly infected organ.

But there are other complications associated with it that should not be ignored during or after recovery from the infection.

Eating a healthy diet, exercising in moderation and reaching the doctor on time will help in overcoming the problems in the medium to long term. (IANS)
