The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is announcing a recall of the IKEA Blavingad Fishing Sets, as they represent a danger to minors who use them.
According to the CPSC report, a small metal rivet inside a wooden game piece can become loose and detachposing a choking hazard to young children.
The removal of the shelves includes some 25,000 pieces that were sold in the United States, including 2,200 that were distributed in Canada.
Globally, IKEA has received notification of four rivet dislodge incident reports and according to information none of the reported incidents occurred in the United States or required medical attention.
The toys were sold in the IKEA stores and online at IKEA.com from October 2022 to March 2023 for around $15.
The recall involves the IKEA Blavingad fishing set with item number 10539622vendor number 21576, and the legend “Made in China” found on the back of the blue box.
The ocean-themed fishing game consists of two wooden fishing lines with thread and magnets to attract pieces of wood with metal rivets. The game consists of 11 pieces and a dice.
The CPSC recommendation is that consumers immediately stop using the recalled Blavingad fishing kit and to contact IKEA for a full refund.
