The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Peloton Interactive Inc. of New York are calling for the repair of the rear protection of the Tread+ treadmill.
On May 5, 2021, CPSC and Peloton announced the Recall of 125,000 Tread+ Treadmills Following Child Death and Dozens of Incidents.
Then, on October 18, 2022, Peloton extended the full refund for consumers with the recalled Tread+ treadmill. until November 6, 2023.
The announcement was made because users adults, children, pets and objects can pass under the rear roller, posing a risk of injury or death. Since the May 2021 recall, an additional 279 incidents and 61 additional reports of injuries have been reported.
To date, in addition to the reported death, Peloton has received a total of 351 incident reports of pull-unders, including 90 consumer injury reports.
Now with the approved repair of the sports equipment rear protection, the possibility of entrapment near the rear roller of the treadmill is eliminated.

CPSC notes that while equipment protection is being manufactured, consumers can register early for a delivery in the fall of 2023.
The rearguard and installation will be free for consumers. To request it, those interested must register at www.onepeloton.com, in Product withdrawal. If there are any questions you can contact Peloton toll free at 866-679-9129 from 6 am to 12 am ET, 7 days a week.
