Ghazl El Mahalla Club and its fans continued their celebrations on the occasion of their promotion to the Egyptian Premier League after defeating Proxy and reaching point 52, occupying second place in the competition’s standings, after being relegated last season.
The Ghazl El Mahalla team is one of the oldest and most prestigious football clubs in Egypt. The club was founded in 1936 and played in the Egyptian League championship for more than 44 seasons. It previously won the Egyptian League title in 1972-1973, and also reached the Egyptian Cup final 6 times and was the first club to win the Egyptian League title in 1972-1973. It reached the CAF Champions League final after losing the final in 1974.
After ensuring promotion, the club’s fans gathered in the ancient Mahalla Stadium, and the celebrations continued until the early hours of the morning of the second day, in addition to a historic reception for the team after the conclusion of the match.
The club’s management prepared an open-top bus for the players to take on the streets of Mahalla to celebrate the team’s return to the Egyptian League.
