Criptan, the Spanish platform for buying, selling and saving crypto assetswhich counts among its investors the president of Mercadona, Juan Roigin addition to former executives of the caliber of Angel Corcósteguiformer CEO of Banco Santander, and José María Castellanoformer vice president of Inditex, has managed to close a new round of financing 3.5 million eurosdespite the situation that bitcoin is experiencing.
The Valencian company founded by Jorge Soriano has closed a new capital increase that, according to the company itself, thus demonstrates the interest that continues to exist in the ecosystem despite the fall in the valuation of most cryptocurrencies.
With this round, new partners have joined, mainly Asian, with whom it seeks to establish strategic alliances for its jump into that geographic region. In addition, entrepreneurs with successful experiences have also joined, among other investors, such as Juan Lobato, CEO and founder of Eburya company acquired by Banco Santander, or Iñaki Berenguer, Managing Partner of Life Extension Ventures and founder of companies such as CoverWallet.
The funds obtained will be used mainly to develop the following three strategic pillars: regulatory adaptation to the new MiCA Law, which will come into force in the next 12 months; the expansion and improvements of Criptan’s savings and investment product, guaranteeing the highest security standards; and geographical expansion thanks to the strategic investors who have joined in this latest round of investment.
The fact that the company has achieved this round of financing after such a challenging year for crypto assets is a sign of the confidence that investors have in the project. Furthermore, the support of large institutions shows the interest that this sector is also generating among more traditional financial entities.
