Cuddalore: ‘Cudalur Metro Friends Handball Club’ is providing free coaching to many people who are interested in the sport of handball (volleyball). Through this many people have joined the government service. Cuddalore Metro Friends Handball Club is running in Varadarajan Nagar Park, Cuddalore. This institute was started in the year 1975. Currently there are 30 members. Handball club secretary Siva Balashankar along with his team is conducting the training.
“With good physical health and mental integrity, we provide this volleyball training to the growing youngsters, which we love to learn,” the members of the club say. With the service of the members of this association for the last 48 years, 40 people have joined and worked under the quota for sports in Police, Power Board, State Transport Corporation, Indian Railways, National Banks including State Bank, Food Security Corporation, Central Customs and Excise, Railway Coach Factory, Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority etc. The members of this club are proud to announce that they are coming.
Coaching center player Guruprasad has been selected for the Indian team and has brought pride to Cuddalore district by participating in the Asian Games. In order to encourage women in sports, a training workshop for women has been started from December 2022 and training is being provided. Students of St. Annal Girls Higher Secondary School, Cuddalore have trained with this association, won district level competitions and qualified for state level competition.
Kritiksha, a student of this school, has passed the state level and is now going to participate in the All India Schools Volleyball Tournament to be held in Odisha for the Tamil Nadu team.
