Mansour Bouassiba, Chairman of the UAE Cycling Federation, stressed the importance of the Asian Track Championship to be held in Thailand, noting that the team is looking for new achievements and medals by participating with a technical team at the highest level, and has become experienced in obtaining Asian and Arab medals.
The cycling team will leave this evening to participate in the Asian Track Championship, which will be held from August 28 to 30 in the Thai capital, Bangkok. This is the team’s first participation in the new season after participating in the Paris 2024 Olympics through player Safia Al-Sayegh.
Mansour Bouassiba told Al-Emarat Al-Youm: “The tournament is very important for the national team, especially since it is at the beginning of the season, and it is also the first participation for Asian champion Abdullah Jassim, in addition to the fact that the national team is looking to win medals, not just participate.”
The tournament will witness Ahmed Al-Mansoori’s first participation, at the beginning of his new preparation journey for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, after he was close to qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The national team mission includes 14 individuals, including five cyclists from the senior and under-23 teams: Ahmed Al Mansouri, Saif Mayouf, Abdullah Al Hammadi, Abdullah Jassim, Mohammed Al Mutaiwee, and from the girls’ team, Zahra Hussein. The young cyclist Ali Nassiraei is also participating in the youth championship.
