New Delhi: Cyclone Chitrong will make landfall near Bangladesh in the early hours of October 25, the India Meteorological Department said.
A depression formed in the southern and northern parts of the Andaman Sea, further strengthened and developed into a depression. It will move northwards and strengthen further to develop into a deep depression tomorrow on October 23. Later it will gradually strengthen and develop into a storm (Cyclone Chitrong) which will make landfall near Bangladesh on the 25th.
Due to this, it has been announced that there will be an impact on the coasts of West Bengal. In this case, yesterday Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba had advised the concerned states to be prepared by predicting the possible effects of Cyclone Chitrang.
Due to this storm warning Odisha state government has alerted its 7 coastal districts. The Meteorological Center has warned that the districts of Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Gurda, Kendrapada, Bhatrak and Balasore may be affected. In this case, the Odisha state government has advised the district officials to be cautious.
