Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur has announced that the prestigious award Dada Shaheb Phalke Award 2020 of the film industry will be presented to senior actress Asha Parekh. Asha Parekh who started her career as a child artist became a heroine and earned her own identity. It is known that she was honored with the Padma Shri Award by the Central Government in 1992 for her services to the film industry as a film actress.
On this occasion, Union Minister Anurag Thakur said, “I am very happy to give Dada Saheb Phalke Award to Asha Parekhgari who has earned her own recognition as an actress. He acted in various roles in more than 95 films. He also served as CBFC Chairman from 1998 to 2001. The jury comprising Asha Bhomsle, Hema Malini, Poonam Dhillon, Udit Narayan and TS Nagabharana nominated Asha Parekh’s name for the Dada Saheb Falk Award. “We will honor her by giving this award at the 68th National Chalana Chitrotsava Awards to be held on September 30,” he said.
