1 of 1

San francisco | Google Maps has finally found a dark theme on its Android app for users around the world. Google wrote in a tweet through its Android handle, “What do we want? Dark theme! Where do we want it? Google Maps!”

Google has been testing Dark Mode for Google Maps since September last year and now the global rollout for Android users has begun.

Night mode means providing much-needed breaks or comfort to your eyes as well as helping to conserve battery life.

To enable dark themes, all you have to do is tap your map icon in the top right corner in Google Maps, look for theme settings in the list of configuration options, and then select the entry that will activate the dark mode.

To access this feature, users have to download the latest version of Android OS ie 10.61.2.

A super-dark shade of gray has been given for the background in Google Maps with dark model features. The street names come in a light shade of gray, allowing users to easily see important landmarks and roads.

Apart from this, Google has also provided password checkup facility for Android handsets.

The company said that the feature is currently integrated into Android phones with Android 9 and above.
