Visakhapatnam: 15 friends who were studying 2nd year in a private engineering college in Anakapalli, Andhra Pradesh, went to the beach in Sithapalayam area yesterday as the exams were over.
Then, 7 of them went to bathe in the sea due to excitement. Suddenly a giant wave dragged them into the sea. The 7 people screamed to save themselves. On hearing this, the fishermen of the area ran away and saved only the student named Teja (19). He is currently undergoing treatment at Visakhapatnam KGH Government Hospital. 6 other students drowned in the sea. After getting information about this, the police went to the spot and started rescue operations.
A naval helicopter was busy searching for those swept out to sea. Rescue teams in 4 more boats and the Navy Police were engaged in search operations. In this case, the body of a student named Suryakumar (19) washed ashore last night. Seeing this, his parents and friends started crying. The search operation in the sea has been intensified. In this case, the bodies of the remaining 5 students were found yesterday and rescued by boats. Fellow students, parents and relatives started crying after seeing the body of the student.
