The number of deaths from hurricane Otis, a Category 5 storm that hit the resort town of Acapulcoin the Mexican Pacific, increased to 48.
The new balance includes 43 people died in Acapulco and 5 in Coyuca de Benítezas well as 6 people missing in the state of Guerrero due to the passage of the hurricane.

The governor of Guerrero, Evelyn Salgadoreported that five temporary shelters with 278 people have been opened in Acapulco and seven temporary shelters with 1,342 people in Coyuca de Benítez.
“They have been intense days of permanent work, without rest and with the sole objective of recovering our Acapulco. “We are making progress in the efficient distribution of humanitarian aid, providing the relevant support and advancing in the restoration of services.”said Salgado.
