Guwahati: It has been decided to run Vivek Express connecting Tamil Nadu and North Eastern states 4 days a week from May. Vivek Express operates from Kanyakumari to Dibrugarh, Assam.
The train covers a distance of 4,189 km through 9 states. It covers this distance in 74 hours and 35 minutes. It stops at a total of 59 places. It is the longest and longest running train in India.
Currently, Vivek Express operates only 2 days a week. North East Frontier Railway Zone has decided to run this train 4 days a week keeping in view the increase in the number of passengers. It will come into effect from May.
Currently this train runs from Dibrugarh to Kanyakumari on Saturday and Sunday.
In this case, from May 7, it will be operated on Tuesdays and Thursdays as well. Similarly, at present Kanyakumari to Dibrugarh is operated on Thursdays and Sundays. It will also run on Mondays and Wednesdays from May 11. The North Eastern Railway Zone informed that there will be no change in the travel time and stops of the trains.
This train has 22 coaches. The ticket fare is Rs 4,450 for AC 2 tier, Rs 3,015 for AC 3 tier and Rs 1,185 for non-AC sleeper class.
The Vivek Express service was launched in November 2011. With 11 years of service, Vivek Express is a bridge connecting South India and the Northeast region.
