Hassa Al Mansoori, the first UAE astronaut of 69, was also part of the project. NASA astronauts, Russian cosmonauts, American cosmonauts Stephen Bowen, Warren Hoberg, and Francisco Rubio, and Russian cosmonauts Sergey Prokopev, Dmitry Petalin, and Andrey Fedayev were also present to participate in the event. Emirates honored the space heroes through special announcements on the public announcement system.
Adel Al Redha, Chief Operating Officer of Emirates, Salem Humaid Al Marri, Director General of MBRSC, and around 200 employees of MBRSC were expected to participate in the event. Planet-shaped desserts and a space-themed menu were included in the flight.
The flight took off from Dubai International Airport at 12 noon. The flight was under the command of Captain Abdullah Abdulrahman Al Hammadi and First Officer Alex van der Veer. The 2 hour flight flew over all the emirates. A special flypast was conducted in Al Ain, Al Neyadi’s hometown. After returning to the country after space travel, Neidi was welcomed in her native place of Al Ain. As the plane took off, the captain made special mentions of prominent places and landmarks.
Sultan Alneidi departed on March 2, 2023. The team departed from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. They returned on the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. The team landed on the space station the very next day after the launch. Alneidi spent 186 days in space. Al Neyadi also completed a spacewalk in seven hours and one minute.
