The outgoing Philippe Diallo was re-elected as president of the French Football Federation on Saturday, with a majority of 55.34%, defeating Pierre Samsonf, who is close to Noel Le Graet, whom Diallo replaced in January 2023.
For the first time in the most important French sports federation (2.4 million licensed players), the heads of amateur clubs were invited to participate on Tuesday and Wednesday to vote electronically, in addition to the heads of professional clubs, the 22 regional leagues and the 91 districts, meaning about 11,500 voters, compared to less than 250 previously.
Diallo (61 years old) said after his victory following the conclusion of the Federation’s Federal Assembly in a Parisian hotel near the Eiffel Tower, that he derives “strong legitimacy” and praised “democratic maturity in our sport.”
Starting in 2026, the federation will benefit from a record contract worth 100 million euros per year with the sporting goods giant Nike.
