A Malayali family was coming to Makkah from Qatar to perform Umrah. The accident happened on Friday morning at a distance of 71 km to reach Taif. Faisal and his family, natives of Pathiripala, Palakkad, who were working in Qatar, were involved in the accident. Faisal’s sons Abhiyan (7) and Ahiyaan (4) and his mother-in-law Sabira Abdul Khader (55) died in the accident. Relatives said that their bodies will be buried in Saudi Arabia.
There were six people in the accident car. Faisal and his wife’s father were not seriously injured. Faisal’s wife, who was traveling in the same car, escaped unhurt. There were six people in the car.

The approximate distance from Doha to Makkah is 1500 km. With GCC visa holders allowed to enter Saudi Arabia, many people are coming to Makkah for Umrah. Most of those who come this way skip rest in order not to waste time. Social workers say that such restless journeys often lead to accidents.
