Al-Arabi player, Senegalese Mohamed Diop, revealed his ambition to lead his team to advance to the professional league, for the first time in its history, by providing the best within coach Issa Al-Sadoun’s squad, and with the help of his fellow players, to consolidate two achievements he achieved with his two previous teams, when he contributed to the victory of “Gulf FC.” C” won the second division league shield in the 2021 season, and the rise of Al Oruba and its victory in the first division league last season, hoping to record the third achievement in Umm Al Quwain.
Diop told Emirates Today: “The team is capable of achieving this ambition, especially since the players enjoy a distinguished sporting environment and promising management,” adding: “They call me the ‘scorer of decisive minutes’, and I am proud of that, and I hope to score more of them.”
Diop is considered one of the most prominent players revealed by the experience of corporate and institutional teams participating in the first and second division leagues, four seasons ago, by scoring abundant goals and creating valuable chances that affected the results of the teams he represented.
Senegalese Diop contributed to the promotion of the Al-Orouba team to play in the ADNOC Professional League, when he scored eight decisive goals last season in the first division, including three in stoppage time. He also scored two goals this season in the 90+5 minute, the first against United. The second was in Masfoot’s goal.
Diop added to “Emirates Today”: “I was close to joining one of the (professional) teams at the beginning of the current season, but the comparison tipped the balance in favor of another player, and I wish him success, and my current ambition is to invest my presence with Al Arabi, which is an ambitious team, and I hope to qualify with it for the Professional League.
He added: “I feel very happy in Al Arabi Club, and I have the support of everyone, especially the Emirati star, Rashid Issa, who gives me a lot of advice and helps me with decisive passes. I am happy that the team is in second place in the league standings, with only a goal difference from Al Dhafra, and each of us has 13.” Point, the current season is still in its infancy, and we have several strong matches awaiting us, most notably with Dibba and Hatta, and every match is important.”
