The Egyptian Clubs Association announced the punishment imposed on Mohamed El-Shennawy, goalkeeper of Al-Ahly club, for assaulting the Smouha player by hitting him without a ball during the match that brought the two teams together in the league.
And the Egyptian Clubs Association, in coordination with the Competitions Committee headed by Amer Hussein, decided to suspend Mohamed El-Shennawy for three matches because of hitting the opponent without a ball.
Al-Shennawi was expelled from his team’s match against Smouha in stoppage time after punching Smouha defender Ahmed Hakam without a ball.
Al-Shennawi’s comrades outperformed Smouha Club 2-0 in the 26th round of the Egyptian League, to enhance Al-Ahly’s lead in the league standings table, with 53 points, while its competitor’s balance was frozen at 31 points in ninth place.
Al-Shennawi will miss Al-Ahly’s matches against Pyramids and Enppi, in addition to another match that will be determined based on the competition schedule.
The penalty will not affect the player’s position on participating with Al-Ahly against Zamalek in the Egyptian Super Cup, as the penalties in the various tournaments are separate.
