PunePrime Minister Narendra Modi has called on the country to reduce its addiction to foreign goods as it celebrates its 75th Independence Day.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the Jido Connect 2022 trade conference of the Jain International Trade Organization in Pune, Maharashtra.
Prime Minister Modi spoke on the occasion via video link:
We need to emphasize the need to give voice to local products. As well as reducing the use of foreign products. At present, the country is promoting as much talent, trade and technology as possible. More than 12 start-ups are currently being launched daily in the country. Autonomous India is our path, our resolution.
Many in the country’s fringe villages, small shopkeepers and self-help groups sell their wares directly to the government. Currently, more than 40 lakh merchants are selling their wares on the government website. Federal government activities are transparent.
Thus spoke Prime Minister Modi.
Minister Gadkari’s speech
Then Union Minister Nitin Gadkari spoke:
The country’s exports are currently on the rise. I would like to reduce the import of goods from abroad and increase the number of goods exported. After independence in 1947, the country suffered heavy losses due to misguided economic policies, corrupt rule and short-sighted leadership.
But the country has been growing rapidly since Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to power. People are happy as a confident, happy, prosperous, self-reliant India is emerging.
Prime Minister Modi has been promoting the ‘indigenous’ thinking given by Mahatma Gandhi. The policy and thinking of `Be Indian and buy Indian goods’ should be spread.
I say you need to reduce imports and increase exports. We need to formulate a policy based on what we export and what we import.
Thus spoke Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
