Chennai: Injuries among players in Indian cricket team are worrying. But captain Rohit Sharma has said that it is doubtful that any of the Indian players will miss the IPL T20 series in order to reduce the workload.
From Jasprit Bumrah to Shreyas Iyer, the number of injured players in the Indian cricket team is increasing. Meanwhile, the IPL T20 cricket series is going to start on 31st. Indian players are going to play for various teams in this cricket festival which will be held for about 2 months. With the IPL series ending on May 28, the Indian team leaves for London to participate in the ICC World Test Championship final on June 7.
Due to this, the workload of the players has become a talking point. As the 50-over World Cup cricket series is scheduled to be held in India in October-November, BCCI and IPL team owners have been asked to pay attention to ensure that important players do not get injured before that. At the end of the 3rd ODI against Australia in Chennai, Indian team captain Rohit Sharma said:
Injuries among the Indian team are worrying. We are missing out on players who will be in the playing XI due to injury. The players in the team are experienced. Thus they should take care of their body.
If players feel any discomfort during the IPL series, they should talk to their team management and take a break for one or two games. But it is doubtful whether this will happen.
The Indian team management has given some limited guidance to the IPL team owners regarding the workload of the players in view of the World Cup series. Now it all rests with the IPL team owners. Because they are the ones who bought the players.
We focus on player management. This is why we give rest to the players at certain times. From our side we are doing the best we can to deal with injuries. But I’m not an expert to explain why players get injured again. The BCCI medical team is working hard to investigate all this. Top 15 players will be ready for the World Cup series. This is what Rohit Sharma said.
