New DelhiFormer Jharkhand Governor Draupadi Murmu was yesterday announced as the BJP’s alliance candidate for the presidency. Dhruvpathi, who hails from the state of Odisha, will be proud to be the first tribal woman to become the President of the Republic if elected.
He visited a Shiva temple in Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha yesterday morning. He multiplied and cleaned the temple himself before worshiping there.
Commenting on Draupadi Murmu on Twitter, Prime Minister Modi said, “Draupadi Murmu’s understanding of policy matters and his compassion will be of great benefit to the country. Draupadi Murmu has dedicated his life to serving the community and the upliftment of the poor. He has excellent governance experience. I firmly believe that he will be the best President of our country. Millions of people who have experienced poverty and hardship derive great strength from the life of Draupadi Murmu. ”
Former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha is vying for the presidency next month in the 18th presidential election against Draupadi Murmu. The ballots will be counted on July 21 and the results will be announced.
