Dredge’s first paid expansion has been delayed until 2024.
The Black Salt Games studio had planned to release it in the last quarter of this year, but “as we progress, we have found ourselves faced with the reality that, given the time of year, we will need more time to coordinate our marketing and make the release be as exciting as it should be.
“It’s genuinely heartbreaking because we know we had made a promise to all of our players, but we firmly believe there was only one way forward and that was to delay Iron Rig until next year.”
However, not all bad news. Although Iron Rig will not arrive until 2024, Black Salt Games does intend to publish “exciting DLC for our players in 2023.”
It hasn’t been explained exactly what it is, but it seems that it will possibly also be paid because the developers have said that they will reveal “when it will be available and how much it will cost” soon.
Dredge was published last March and is one of the most interesting indie titles this year. In its analysis we said of it that “taking the roguelite logic beyond the concept of permanent death, Dredge emerges as a great fishing and cosmic horror game, although it falls into some of the classic defects of the genre.”
