Drug abuse and manslaughter.. Zamalek star referred to criminal court

In a new and dangerous development for Zamalek and Egypt national team star Ahmed Fattouh, the Public Prosecution in Egypt announced the referral of Zamalek player Ahmed Fattouh to the Criminal Court on charges of marijuana use and manslaughter.

The details of the crisis go back to Ahmed Fattouh, who was driving his car with his Zamalek teammate Mohamed Sobhi next to him, driving at high speed before losing control of the vehicle, which led to a violent collision with a policeman on the North Coast Road, while they were traveling to spend a vacation period after the rest that the team had been given by the technical staff led by Jose Gomez.

The accident resulted in the immediate death of the policeman, while the players were transferred to the police station to investigate the incident and seize the car.

The Public Prosecution confirmed in its statement that Ahmed Fattouh had been found to be using hashish, according to the results of his sample.

The text of the Public Prosecution’s statement is as follows:

The Public Prosecution ordered the referral of the accused / Ahmed Mohamed Abu Al-Fotouh – football player to the competent criminal court; to try him for what is attributed to him of possessing the narcotic substance hashish with the intent to use it, and his mistakenly causing the death of the victim, Mr. Ahmed Al-Sayed, while driving a car under the influence of that drug and in a condition that results in danger.

The Public Prosecution investigations proved that the accused drove his car on one of the coastal roads at a tremendous speed exceeding the legal speed limit while under the influence of hashish. He hit the victim while he was crossing the road, and his body parts were scattered inside the car and on the sides of the road, causing his death.

The Forensic Medicine Authority report also confirmed that the sample taken from the accused contained the aforementioned narcotic substance.

The Public Prosecution interrogated the accused, and in order to defend him, it questioned the forensic doctor during the investigations, who confirmed – according to the sample examination report – that the accused had used the narcotic substance hashish, which was supported by the investigations of the investigation authority.
