Dubai dazzles the world with the opening ceremony of the Karate World Cup. An Egyptian woman wins gold (photos)

The 25th edition of the World Karate Championship for men and women, held since November 16 at the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Sports Complex in Dubai, officially opened on Friday, and the curtain closed on Saturday, with the participation of 1,000 male and female players from 117 countries.
The official opening ceremony was attended by the Assistant Secretary-General of the General Sports Authority Khaled Al Midfa, the Assistant Secretary-General for Administrative and Financial Affairs of the National Olympic Committee, Eng. Azza bint Suleiman, the Assistant Secretary-General of the Dubai Sports Council Nasser Al Rahma, and the President of the International Karate Federation Antonios Espinos. The President of the UAE and Asian Karate Federations, the First Vice-President of the International Federation, Major General Nasser Abdul Razuqi, the President of the UAE Athletes Association, Dr. Ahmed Al Sharif, and a number of international and local dignitaries.
In a related context, the Egyptian, Ahlam Youssef, gifted the first gold medal in the women’s 55-kilogram kumite competition, knowing that it is the player’s first participation in the World Cup tournaments.
