Dubai Duty Free Lottery; A gift of around Rs 8 crore to an expatriate Malayalee living in Oman

Dubai: A Malayalee won a prize in the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire draw. The prize money was $ 10 lakh (7.8 crore Indian rupees). John Varghese, 62, of Muscat, Oman, won the prize.

He has been an expatriate for 35 years. For years, he frequently traveled between Dubai and Muscat as part of his job. He picked up the ticket from the Duty Free Finest Surprise Counter at Dubai Airport. His decision was to set aside money for life after retirement. In addition, a section has decided to set aside some money for charitable activities that benefit women and children. He said it was the first time he had won such a lottery. John Varghese is the 192nd Indian to win the first prize in this draw.
