Former Netherlands and Barcelona top scorer, Patrick Kluivert, was appointed coach of the Indonesian national football team yesterday, in an attempt to lead the Asian country to the World Cup finals, for the first time since its independence.
The Indonesian Federation said in a statement: “The Dutch legend signed a contract for two years, from 2025 to 2027, with the option to extend it.” The 48-year-old will oversee a squad that includes many naturalized citizens born in the Netherlands, in the remaining journey of the team in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers scheduled in the United States and Canada.
