SmartCommerce is a set of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) products provided by Amazon Web Services. It enables MSMEs to build their business and find market. This proves beneficial especially for new traders who want to enter ONDC. The announcement comes after ONDC CEO T Koshy said that it is preparing to integrate with Amazon’s platform in October.
“Amazon’s vision and commitment to India aligns with ONDC’s goals of digitally enabling small businesses, providing convenience and choice to consumers across the country.” Amazon India Consumer Business Country Manager Manish Tiwari said. Amazon’s rival Flipkart has already included its logistics arm E-Cart in ONDC.
Giants like Reliance, Microsoft, Snapdeal and Hindustan Unilever have also announced to join ONDC. ONDC aims to democratize e-commerce by allowing sellers to access more shoppers’ data. This does not allow Amazon and Flipkart, say industry players. Also, ONDC has scaled its beta stage offerings to around 85 cities since September 30. Also Paytm, Shiprocket, Delhiveri order fulfillment networks are there.
Amazon said it has consistently leveraged technology and innovation on behalf of Indian consumers and sellers, digitizing more than 4 million small businesses and kirana stores in India and providing access to cutting-edge technology for online sales.
According to e-commerce giant Amazon, this integration will provide more technical support to sellers and further empower small businesses. It will also benefit billions of consumers with a wide range of choices. This is in line with ONDC’s vision to democratize e-commerce across India.
