New Delhi: An earthquake struck the Central American country of Guatemala on Friday night. It was recorded as 6.1 on the Richter scale.
The U.S. Geological Survey said at 11:52 p.m. Friday in the Central American country of Guatemala, about seven kilometers (four miles) from the city of Taxisco, at a depth of 108 kilometers. It was recorded as 6.1 on the Richter scale. The quake was also felt in the UNESCO World Heritage city of Antigua, Guatemala.
“No casualty or damage has been reported so far. Authorities are monitoring it,” civil defense spokesman Rodolfo Garcia said. According to officials, 90 percent of Guatemala’s area is earthquake-prone.
