Nagpur. Earthquake tremors were felt in many areas of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana early Wednesday morning. According to the National Center of Seismology, the intensity of the earthquake was measured at 5.3 on the Richter scale. Earthquake tremors were felt at 07:27 in the morning. The epicenter of the earthquake was 40 kilometers below the ground.
At present, there is no news of any loss of life or property due to the earthquake. According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), an earthquake of 5.3 magnitude occurred in Mulugu district of Telangana at 7:27 am on Wednesday. The epicenter of this earthquake was at a depth of 40 kilometers from the ground in Mulugu area. The earthquake lasted for 15 to 20 seconds. Earthquake tremors were felt in Gadchiroli, Nagpur and Chandrapur in Maharashtra and Sukma, Dantewada and Bijapur in Chhattisgarh.
Apart from this, people also felt the tremors of earthquake in Hyderabad, Mulug, Rangareddy, Khammam and Krishna and Bhadradri Kothagudem districts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Due to the earthquake, cracks appeared in the walls of many houses. To keep themselves safe, people came out of their homes and came into the open fields.
It is noteworthy that earthquake has occurred twice in Gadchiroli district in the last 3 years. Earlier, on the evening of 31 October 2021, an earthquake had hit many villages of Sironcha, Aheri, Chamorshi and Mulchera talukas. The intensity of this earthquake was measured at 4.3 on the Richter scale. Subsequently, on the midnight of 29 October 2022, earthquake tremors were felt in parts of Sironcha and Aheri taluka, whose intensity was measured at 3.8. The intensity of today’s earthquake is greater than both the earthquakes.
