Rahul Bhatt (35) hails from Beerwa in Kashmir’s Badgam district. He worked as a clerk in the government revenue department. He and his wife now live in the Shakbora area, which is mostly inhabited by Pandits. His parents have already migrated to Jammu.
Meanwhile, two militants stormed the Revenue Department office last Thursday and opened fire on Rahul Bhatt, who was sitting on the seat. Rahul Bhatt was killed when 3 bombs exploded in his chest.
A large number of government employees and members of the public staged a protest yesterday in Pathkam district condemning the attack and seeking justice. Also, they marched on the road leading to the airport. False Tsar fired tear gas to stop them. This created tension in the area.
Many Kashmiri Pandits who have been severely affected by terrorism are staying in camps in Anantnag district. They also took part in this struggle. They chanted that those responsible for the murder of Rahul Bhatt, who was carrying candles, should be arrested and punished immediately.
Following this, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Pathkam District, arrived at the scene of the protest and held talks.
Meanwhile, police suspect that Nani may have been an affiliate of the Pakistan-backed Lashkar-e-Taiba militant group ‘The Resident Tent Front’ after Rahul Butt was shot dead.
Also, so far this year 28 people have been identified as Hindus, Sikhs and expatriates
Police said the militants were shot dead. In this context, security in Kashmir has been further strengthened. Security forces have stepped up their search for the culprits behind the shooting of Rahul Bhatt.
