The Egyptian team, Zamalek, won the African Confederation Cup title for the second time in its history after defeating Morocco’s RS Berkane with a 1-0 goal in the return match, which was held at Cairo Stadium, amidst thousands of fans in the match stadium, to be crowned champion after a 2-2 aggregate draw in the two matches.
Zamalek lost in the first leg with a score of 2-1 before settling for a goal in the return match to win the title according to the current tournament system, and the team won its second victory in the tournament after it had succeeded in winning it in 2019.
The Egyptian giant owes its coronation to its star Ahmed Hamdy, who scored the only goal of the match (23).
The “White Castle” team benefited from the rule of scoring away from home after losing 1-2 in the first leg at the municipal stadium in the city of Berkane (northeastern Morocco) last Sunday.
This is the second title for Zamalek after 2019, when it defeated RS Berkane in particular, and deprived the latter of the third title after 2020 and 2022.
