Chennai. Electric vehicle (EV) and technology company EKA Mobility on Wednesday said it has received a letter of allotment (LoA) from Converges Energy to procure, operate and maintain 310 electric buses on an all-cost contract. Services Limited has recently floated a tender for 6,465 electric buses. The tender was floated by state-owned Converge Energy Services Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), under the National E-Bus Program Phase 1.
According to EKA, the e-buses will be deployed by the Transport Department Haryana, Transport Department, Arunachal Pradesh, Kerala State Road Transport Corporation for intra-city operations as part of the government’s efforts to provide a clean, sustainable and efficient transport option.
With this order, EKA Mobility’s order book has grown significantly, with over 500 electric buses and over 5,000 electric light commercial vehicle orders in the pipeline.

EKA Mobility has also developed a nine-metre city bus on a hydrogen fuel cell platform. Going forward, the company plans to introduce multiple variants of electric and hydrogen fuel-cell buses along with the e-lite commercial vehicle range.(IANS)
