Mumbai Chief Minister Eknath Shinde met Governor CP Radhakrishnan on Tuesday and submitted his resignation from the post of Chief Minister. The Governor has asked Eknath Shinde to act as the acting Chief Minister until the new Chief Minister is appointed. The Governor will soon invite the largest political party in the state to form the government.
The 14th Assembly was formed in the state in the year 2019. The tenure of the 14th Assembly is ending on 26th November i.e. today. For this reason, today at 11 am, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar reached Raj Bhavan in Mumbai and Eknath Shinde submitted his resignation to Governor CP Radhakrishnan. Along with this, after the resignation of the Chief Minister, the cabinet of the 14th government has automatically been dismissed.
The Governor has also handed over the authority of acting Chief Minister to Eknath Shinde. Shinde faction’s Shiv Sena spokesperson Deepak Kesarkar said that today Chief Minister CM Eknath Shinde has resigned from his post. This has been done under constitutional provisions. Very soon there will be a meeting of the leaders of the allies of the NDA alliance and the new Chief Minister will be decided.
He said that there is no resentment in the NDA alliance regarding the post of Chief Minister. It is noteworthy that elections for the 15th Assembly were held in the state on 20 November and counting of votes was completed on 23 November. In this election, NDA alliance has got 232 seats out of total 288 seats in Maharashtra. As per custom and tradition, the Governor can invite the largest party, BJP, to form the government.
