Kolkata. Police raided the rented residence of Leader of Opposition (LOP) in West Bengal Assembly, Shubhendu Adhikari. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has sought a report from the District Election Officers on this action.
The police carried out this action in Kolaghat late on Tuesday night. Sources in the West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) office said, “After receiving the report from the district election officers, it will be sent to the Commission’s headquarters in New Delhi by Friday evening.”

While the Election Commission has sought a detailed report on this matter, Shubhendu Adhikari has also filed a case on the same issue in a single judge bench of Justice Jay Sengupta of the Calcutta High Court. Union Home Minister Amit Shah had raised this issue while addressing an election rally in Kanthi Lok Sabha constituency in support of Shubhendu Adhikari on May 22.
Amit Shah had said that CM Mamata Banerjee has become desperate due to the fear of defeat. She has resorted to misusing the state police. I just heard that the state police raided the rented residence of opposition leader Subhendu Adhikari late at night.
