New Delhi. The Election Commission has sought answers from BJP and Congress presidents on complaints of violation of election code of conduct against each other. Both the parties will have to give their reply by 1:00 pm on Monday i.e. 18th November. The Election Commission also reminded of the advisory given on 22 May 2024 during the Lok Sabha elections.
In this advisory, it was asked to control the star campaigners and leaders so that public decorum is not violated and the model code of conduct is followed during the election campaign. One phase of elections has been completed in Jharkhand. Elections are on November 20 for all the seats in Maharashtra and the remaining seats in Jharkhand.
Meanwhile, BJP and Congress have filed complaints against each other with the Election Commission for violating the code of conduct. Now the Election Commission has written separate letters to BJP President JP Nadda and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and sought response on the complaint.
Earlier, referring to an Islamic leader’s alleged call for ‘vote jihad’ against the BJP-led grand alliance government, Fadnavis on Friday had called for a ‘vote crusade’ to counter it. Asked about Fadnavis’ appeal to voters, Pawar said it was the BJP leader who had raised the issue of ‘vote jihad’.
