Electricity rates cut in Oman

Oman: Electricity tariff in Oman has been reduced. The discount is for domestic customers. Electricity rates have been reduced by 15 per cent. The electricity distribution company Muscat Electricity Distribution Company said. With the onset of hot summer, the use of electricity will increase.

The rates have been reduced for the summer period from May 1 to August 31. An official announcement has been issued in this regard. The release notes that home customers will get a 15 per cent discount on their basic account (two accounts or less). However, officials said that the rate cut will not be available for power consumption before May 1. If any fake messages are spread in this regard, immediate action will be taken.

The company has also demanded that all electricity consumers in Oman update their information through various means on the website or through the WhatsApp number 72727770 or the Noor app. Meanwhile, statistics show that drowning deaths are on the rise in the country. A total of 521 drowning deaths were reported this year in various governorates across the country. It is reported that this is more than last year. There has been a huge increase compared to 2020.
