The new season of the First Division Football League, which starts next Sunday, will witness the presence of an elite group of international players who have previously represented the national team or professional league clubs, which will add strength and attractiveness to the competitions, and contribute to the return of the public to the stands on a large scale, in addition to increasing the number of matches that will be broadcast on television.
The most prominent of these players are Khalil Al Hammadi and Ryan Yeslam (Al Dhafra), Fares Juma and Ali Saqr (United), Yaqoub Hassan and Omar Al Khadim (Emirates), Jamal Marouf (Al Jazirah Al Hamra), Ismail Al Hammadi (Al Hamriyah), Rashid Issa, Mohammed Fawzi and Mansour Abbas (Al Arabi), and Tariq Ahmed (Dibba Al Fujairah).
Al Arabi Club is the most prominent in terms of contracts, as it contracted with three influential players in defense and midfield, as well as Emirates Club, which preferred to contract with distinguished players in the defense line, while Al Dhafra Club chose to rely on a player in midfield and another as an attacker. On the other hand, this type of player was absent from Fujairah, Hatta and Al Dhaid clubs, as they relied on distinguished players in the first division, and from the youth and talented categories.
In turn, former coach and international lecturer Omar Al Hammadi stressed that the presence of an elite group of international and distinguished players is an important technical addition to the First Division League, but on the condition that they get sufficient opportunities to participate, and without being affected by the coaches’ greater reliance on foreign and resident players.
Al Hammadi told Al-Emarat Al-Youm: “The first division league has been strong for several seasons, and the new players will contribute to increasing the intensity of the competition, and we can expect the new season to be enjoyable.”
• Al Hammadi, Youssef, Fares, Al Khadim, Marouf, Issa and Fawzi are the most prominent faces in the amateur league.
